On my vehicle in the center of the dashboard toward the window there is some sort of small plug in device under a small cover. The cover measures approximately 2 inches by 2 inches. If you lift up the cover you have a female connector on the bottom of the cover. My cover and whatever is attached to it is broken and to replace it I have to have a name for it. I am assuming it is some sort of sensor but I am not certain. What is this called? Thanks.

 

It's related to the automatic air conditioning. You need temperature sensors to do that and also a V70 has a sun sensor to cheat colder in bright sunshine. The sun sensor is a tiny little thing in the middle of the dashboard, smaller than that. Looking at google some refer to this as "ambient light sensor" but sun sensor is good too.

If you're looking for the 2" by 2" thing, I don't know what that is called. Mine is broken too.
