My fan has stopped blowing cool and hot air. I have been told the resistor and the blower motor have to be replaced. Is it possible that the Resistor can be replaced without having to change out the blower motor as well? If the blower motor has to be replaced it is $850.

Sure, it's possible. But to get to the resistor, you need to remove the blower motor. So it is best to do them both at once, especially if the shop is pulling the dash like the job calls for.
