Volvo s40 1 water comming from exhaust runs fine
I HAVE A 2001 1.8 VOLVO S40 1 I.8 i have had it serviced recently and the car runs good , i put it on the emission tester today and it was excellent but their is water coming out of exhaust, i cant see how its the cylinder head gasket because it runs good and smooth, the guy who done the test hasn't a clue. if its the head i shall have to sell it

That's kind of a generalization. There should be water in the exhaust, a lot of it. It is winter, at least assuming you're in the northern hemisphere. I wouldn't want to say that some of it won't come out as liquid. Even if it's all hot, it condenses into a fog quickly in really cold weather.

vovlvo losing water
thank you for your reply firebird, I took the car down the motorway this morning and gave it a good run, I filled the expansion tank with water when I got back the car stayed around50% on the thermostat gauge. but the expansion tank was half full the car seems to run ok , when I stopped I could see like steam coming from the exhaust I normally only run it around town doesn't get a lot of use
