2014 XC60 Brake Issue
I have a question maybe some one could answer for me.
I have a New 2014 XC60 with about 1000 miles on it so far. Absolutely love it!
I feel a little vibration in the steering wheel when the brakes are hot like in rush hour traffic or like when slowing down on an exit ramp. I was thinking the rotors might be warped. I notice today the rotors on the front have something that loots like rust on the surface even after driving for a long period.
I look at look at other cars and there rotors look polished. I have an appointment set for Monday but I'm trying to understand what this rust looking film could be. Hopefully it's not warped rotors.
Thanks for any input and forgive me if I have posted in the wrong area. I'm new to Volvo and the Forum.

Even warped rotors (unlikely) would have a shiny surface after 1000 miles of regular use.
Maybe a little grease, oil or even a small amount of brake fluid leaking from a faulty calliper has burnt onto the hot rotor surface.
Just leave it for the dealer to check out and alleviate especially as brand new and under warranty.
Strange that they both (front) look the same as your post states?
Keep us updated on the outcome at the dealer next week.

Some pad types take a bit longer to bed in properly from new due to their composition.
That could be the issue or even the tire spray as per your theory.
Try giving the brakes a good workout on a windy hill road and see if they clean up after that.
Some drivers brake more aggressively than others so maybe your a more sedate, gentler styled driver which helps to prolong pad life and also in this case possibly the initial wear in period for your new vehicle.
