Default 2015 S60 T6 2.0 FWD Tires

Hello guys! I need to get tires and I really don’t want Nexen but I see these tires are for heavy cars. I’m looking to get
  • Size:235/40ZR19 96Y
  • Load Range: XL
  • UTQG: 540 AA A
  • Style: Blackwall
  • Eco Focus: Michelin Total Performance

would these do the job?

not sure why you say "these tires are for heavy cars" Are you referring to the load rating = XL? that has more to do with the sidewall design than anything. 40 profile tires will all have stout sidewalls regardless of brand. Are you looking for summer tires, all seasons, hi performance or touring? For my next set of performance all seasons, I'll be looking at the Conti ExtremeContact DWS. (235/45-17s for my car). Currently running General G-max but I don't like how they got noisy when they started to wear...

Tirerack.com has a nice shopping guide to compare brands and specs with reviews. There's such a wide range of choice here which is why I asked about your needs. I'm in New England and run snows (regardless of AWD or not, snows help you stop and turn) in the winter and all seasons from April to November. All seasons have better water channeling when it rains and I don't drive the twisties the way I did when I was in my 20s :-) so I value wet handing/braking and low noise the most. Price is always a consideration so I've been open minded about secondary brands. If I were still living in California I'd probably go with high performance summer tires but not here.

Good point buddy. I’m in NJ and would prefer a good all around tire. From what I can find it looks like Michelin Pilots or Continental Extreme Contact. Right now I have Nexen CP671 235/40R19

Michelin Pilot Sports are very good tires.

3 or 4 years a go I bought a set of Continental TrueContact tires for my S80. Now, the only time since the mid '80's that I have bought any tire not a Michelin was in 05 - and i had those taken of within 500 miles due to no wet traction.
I was riding on some Pilots that had plenty of miles left on them but a blow out necessitated 1 new tire and I really don't like mismatched tired tires on a car that is really reserved for long distance highway trips, I tend to drive " above the posted limits" but I have slowed down a bit as I don't want to miss a bathroom.
I should point out that I needed a set of tires fast, as in that day, and could not find the Michelins I had on the car in stock anywhere in Dallas. Sitting in a Discount Tire and reading reviews on my phone I settled on the Conti's. Immediately I noticed a slightly softer ride which bothered me a bit at first. At first, but I quickly grew to prefer that, they really don't feel "sloppy" in the handling department but seem to reduce the little stuff like that coarse pavement vibration feel the Michelins deliver. The real difference was noticed in the rain - the wet traction is nothing short of fantastic! Seriously, I ended up playing around for the next few rainstorms, seeing what I could do with them. Noticeably better than the Pilots. They do feel solid at speeds up to 100 mph, which is now my limit (which is what I was doing when I had the blow out - on one of those limited access 1 lane toll roads with cement blocks about 2 feet away from either side of the car. I was pleasantly surprised how well the S80 handled the whole affair)

They do have a gimmicky tread wear system - instead of just the one mark that tells you the tire are shot, they have have several to let you know that wet traction is diminished and I think another to let you know that snow traction is diminished, honestly, way to much trouble for me. I live in Dallas so snow traction is something I haven't tested.

The Conti Extreme's are Z rated - meaning they've been tested to 150 mph...

Glad to do so.
The TrueContacts are rated to 130 mph and the night after I bought them I drove to Houston at a fairly steady 100 with several stretches at up to 120. Max. they did well. That said, it was at night so the pavement wasn't egg frying hot. As I said, I've pretty much drawn the line at 100 now but I do hit that frequently.

They are supposed to be good for 80,000 miles, I'm good about rotating, aligning and pressure so I hope to get at least 60,000 out of them or until the wet traction decreases noticeably.
