Default 760 dilemma

Last December I purchased a 1990 760 2.3 turbo wagon. In the past 5 months I've replaced the radiator 5 times. The last replacement was approx 3 weeks ago which included a new thermostat and engine flush. I picked the car up and a few days later headed down the interstate. Next thing I know the thermostat pegs and I immediately pull of to the shoulder and pop the hood, water and oil everywhere. Upon another trip to the garage the mechanic informs me the crankshaft pulley was broken i.e. the source to the prolific overheating. I now need the head reworked and the crankshaft clutch replaced. I've taken good care of the car, upon purchase I immediately had the timing belt service done. I only run premium fuel and use Mobil 1 fully synthetic high mileage oil. The car currently has 171k miles and is anywhere from a 6.5/10 to a 7/10 overall. My question is I paid $2200 cash for the car, and currently have $1600 in maintenance and repair bills; not including the $1300 I was just quoted the latest repairs. Should I simply cut my losses and walk away? Thanks for any advice!

No, you should find a decent mechanic and have the car repaired.

Regards, Andrew.
