Anyone else have problems w/ rebuilt master cylinders?
Hi, all. I replaced my brake master cylinder about 5 mos ago, and all was well until the last couple weeks. I have been getting the same pedal sinking on light braking that caused me to replace the old one; but it is getting steadily worse. I have parked the car for now. My replacement was a "factory rebuilt" unit from NAPA, with a 90 day warranty which of course has now expired. Is it possible that this rebuilt unit is failing already? Is this a common occurence with rebuilt units? Anyone able to recommend a reliable rebuilt brand? Or should I just buy a new one this time? Appreciate any feedback. '86 245 Volvo
I rebuild my own. I give them a quick hone and if that doesn't clean them up, I send them out for a stainless steel sleeve, then put a new seal kit through it.
Works out WAY cheaper than recoed cylinders and I KNOW it's going to last for another 20+ years.
Regards, Andrew.
