Default anyone else have a 1980 240?

Does anyone else out there have a 1980 or 81 or 79(you get the idea) 240 series? It seems like most of the posts on here are about newer volvos. I would really like to hear anyone elses experiences/bits of wisdom about their older volvo. I'm a pretty big newbie but I would love to learn as much as possible! Thanks for your time.

So I'm assuming they are horror stories?? I would like to hear the stories so I at least know what to look out for?

I have a question for you as well: I've been looking to replace my stereo but when I looked at crutchfield.com there were no stereo harnesses available for volvos older than 85... I'm a total newbie when It comes to installing stereos. Did you have to go in splice wires in yours? Any reccomendations on how to do it would be awesome. Thanks.

I spliced mine in my '91 240 and have regreted it ever since (i always forget what the %uck that damn green wire is for). I wouldn't have thought the wire harness for the radios in the 240 changed....perhaps Lucktweeker can post a pic of his and i'll post a pic of mine and we can figure it out in the Audio section?

A pic would be awesome, though i have to ask how hard it was for you to hard wire it...I'm wondering if i'd be better off taking it to a car audio place, but then i'd have to pay through the teeth...Thanks for the help!

though i have to ask how hard it was for you to hard wire it
main concern is not to ground out the battery or accessory leads (yellow, green or red...i think) nothing to severe will happen, you'll just blow a fuse. Everything else is just trial and error. My 240 speaker wires were labeled "front right", "front left" ...etc...maybe yours does too? I regret hardwireing mine only because i've had several sterrios in there since and i'm running short on fresh wire to strip.....what can i say, i was young. It would have just been easier to keep the factor plugs and buy the nessessary adapter for it...no guess work that way.

Ah man, I appreciate that offer! But I live in California so I think I'm on my own for this one! Thanks though. This weekend I'm going to actually go under the dash and see just what is going on in there so hopefully I'll have some specific questions, I realize mine have been pretty ambiguous up to this point....
