car Sputtering and dont know why

car Sputtering and dont know why
So when i got about a 1/4 tank of gas my car starts too sputter when i get on the gas a little bit and i have a few ideas but i was just wondering if anyone had this problem or knows what it could be and oh ya its a 78 so could be the age. ideas?
