Considering 2006-2007 S60
I'm new to the forum. I'm considering a 2006-2007 S60 2.5T automatic however, I'm concerned about it's overall reliability reports. Most sources rate the S60's reliability at 5 out of 10. Also, the devaluation of the first 2 - 3 years is very dramatic. It could spell out to a great used car but cautious first.... Also, I saw a 50% decline in sales and uncertain future.
What are the forum's thoughts?....
I love Volvo despite most car magazines and reviews criticizing it against a BMW, Mercedes, Acura, etc. The look, feel and overall cabin features are simply unique and compelling.
Thanks,
John

I'm picking up an 08 S60 AWD next week, my first Volvo (although other family members have o4 and 01). This one is lightly used, with 12K on it. Got it for over $11K off the new 08 sticker price. The warranty was a selling point for me.
I'm expecting to keep this car a minimum of 10 years.
From what I've read, should be easy to do

If you look at Consumer Reports, that source is rather more optimistic on
the later models of the S 60.
My wife and I bought earlier this year an 06 V70 (same powertrain) with the Volvo CPO warranty. Lightly used with under 14000 miles for $22000 plus tax, title and plate fee. A car whose sticker price when new was $39800. Clean CarFax with service records, too. A lease turn in.
In the Metro Detroit area there is a surplus of 06 S60's. Lots of Ford executives leased them and have now turned them in. My local dealer has in its used car lot about 20, all under 36K, all Volvo certified used cars with 100K warranties, and all at or under $22K.
My wife appropriated the Volvo, and prefers it to her Sebring convertible, even though its summer. I've driven it enough to know that its a very nice
car. Gets nearly 30 mpg at 70 mph cruise speed, too; and per the trip computer has averaged about 25 mpg in the 7000 miles we've driven it.
Check prices on KBB.com and NADA.com which will give you a pretty good clue for wholesale and retail (asking) prices. Sure, the prices are somewhat high, but its a start.
BTW, it was the warranty that sold me on a used car purchase here -- without it I'd have been too fearful of such a low mileage car being sold. Nothing but routine service so far.

I'm a Volvo convert - '60 S60 T5
Thank you all for the responses. I purchased a 2006 T5 S60 Special Edition with climate package, Nav & Bi-Xenon headlamps for $17K flat. I tend to keep the vehicle about 10 yrs or longer which appears to be easy to do. I am placing my '06 Honda Civic out to pasture via my wife eating another car's bumper ; otherwise I'd still drive it.
