Default Digital dash Problems

Hi Chat Room...My name is Arnie and I live in the cold north (Pembroke On. Canada)
I have owned Volvos since the 122 series and now own an 2002 S80 T6
Have had very little trouble with the car however about 1 year ago the small window on the bottom left of the dash started to become fuzzy and unreadable. That's the window which gives you average speed...drivers door open etc. I took it to a capable mechanic who once worked for Volvo and he could not figure it out. After that the digital clock started to act up and I was not able to set it. As soon as I touched the reset gadget it just kept on running until it decided to stop.
Then coming home one day last week and was about 100 feet from a left turn I was not able to see the signal light indicator but I did hear a distinct clicking noise telling me that they were working. The next day I looked down and the dash was blank( no RPM-no gas gauge - No speedometer) Everything else was working ie. radio-heater fan- lights- heated seats etc.
My question.. anyone else have this problem? How can I get it repaired and at what approximate cost? Can I be left stranded on the road somewhere because of this problem?
I would really appreciate any advice I can get from anyone.
Thank you
