Default Do brake pads have a shelf life?

I recently (today) had a brake service done on my P3 V60 (full set of Zimmermann coated discs and TRW Cotec pads - only the finest for my old barge). Since I know some parts suppliers, I decided to order the parts myself and have them sent to my local Volvo guy. He then mentioned he got the parts all nice and sealed up, but indicated that both sets of pads have a manufacture date of 2012/2013. Should I be worried? Or complain about the manufacture date to the supplier? Any more mechanically inclined Volvo owners/mechanics have any idea how long pads can be stored? Many thanks!

I wouldn't worry about that at all to be honest. They will still work fine and last just as long as if they were manufactured yesterday.

I wouldn't worry about it. I don't even know why your mechanic would mention it.
