Extended Warranty?
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum and new to volvos. I recently got a 2025 v90 cc. I have always wanted a wagon and it was a bit of an impulse buy when I learned they're being discontinued. I'm located in the Toronto area. Was looking for new, but ended up getting a CPO 1 year old v90 cc with 8300 km on the odometer. Its the B6 ultra mild hybrid with the upgraded sound system and rear air suspension.
I have the factory warranty until Feb 2029 and CPO adds an additional year to it, taking me to Feb 2030. My initial thought was that I wasn't going to be getting an extended warranty, but then the first time I used the rear wiper, the motor was leaking washer fluid into the cargo compartment. Everything was fixed free of charge under warranty, but I'm a bit spooked now. This is my first Volvo so I'm not sure how well they hold up over time. I would imagine that out of warranty repair would be pricey.
I estimate I will be putting around 15000 km on it per year. The dealer offered me a volvo administered extended warranty with additional things like unlimited mileage, loaner car, roadside assistance, etc. The warranty is transferrable and if I don't end up claiming anything on it, I can get a portion of it back, or a portion can be transferred towards the purchase of a new volvo in the future.
$ 4123 CAD would get me covered until 2032 (2 additional years)
$ 4454 CAD would get me covered until 2033 (3 additional years)
prices start escalating too quickly beyond that for it to be worthwhile IMO
I generally like to keep my cars for as long as I can...my last 2 cars are at 14 years (Acura TL...what I am replacing) and 10 years (Honda Odyssey) but didn't really require much outside of regular maintenance
Is the extended warranty worth it at those numbers? Any suggestions/opinions would be very helpful!
