Hi - I'm new here but I have owned over the years...well my wife has owned three (two XCs & 850) and my son's ruined one (it started as a perfect 240).

One saved my family's life in a collision, so since I've decided to get rid of my sports car it's like I'm coming home again, again.

In any case, for a variety of reasons, I'm thinking a V70 AWD or an XC70. All I can afford is probably in the 2000 to 2005 range.

A first question: Are there any of these that I should particularly avoid and why?

I can't speak for anything post 2000 but do get a turbo, you won't be to disappointed on the preformance.
