Default Need help on a Volvo 240. Gonna mod it.

Well... hi guys. the thing is that i wanna get a volvo 240 and try to put it real nice. but i need to know some things first.

1. wich volvo turbo engines fit into a '93 240?
2. what can i do with the transmission? (it's an automatic)
3. is it worth modifying the volvo?
4. for all the stuff you might tell me to do, how much money would it be.
5. should i upgrade the turbo?

i can't get a ford mustang so i thought i'd get my dad's car and repair everything and modify it. it should be fun to make it go real good and race it.

as i have been told it would be easier and cheeper to just buy a turbo volvo and start from there. you are looking at alot of time and money to be spent doing all thease things.

[align=left]well the thing is that i can't get another volvo, just my dad's. and i don't really think it's not gonna be cheap nor expensive... i've been thinking about getting as much used parts as possible and get the new ones when needed. many people have told me that i can use a 740 manifold and turbo kit and then getting a better turbo. and it looks line a nice idea, but i don't know which computer can i put on the car so it goes 'better than factory's computer'. also, don't know if i should change the pistons and if i could get a good camshaft. i don't care too much about the exhaust system as long as it goes good with the engine. i know it's not cheap and maybe there will be expensive stuff, but it's all i can get.

Find your self a 93+ 740 or 940 with a turbo at a U-Pull-It yard. You can do 1 of two things.

1. Pull the entire engine and turbo system and the ECU and install them in your car. You need to change a few things on the engine so that it will fit into your car. Such as changing the distributer to a block mounted distributor. 740s and i think 940s use a head mounted one. This process can be some what time consuming and you need to know what you are doing.

2. OR you could pull all the turbo equipment I.E. manifolds, turbo, intercooler and piping, injectors, ECU, and any other parts you need to turbo your engine. This is a little cheaper and a little less time consuming then option one. The only difference between a B230F and a B230FT engine is the Compression (yours is higher) and the sodium valves and cam on the turbo motor.

I suggest you go to www.turbobricks.com and do a search there before you ask questions. They like to flame people who don't search first. They have tons of information on how to +T your car. I'm in the process of +T ing my car right now you just need to find the right doner car.

Good Luck
