Hello!

Today I found that my 2002 S60 is not starting. When I turn the key I just hear like an electric crackling and all instrument lights go on and off. I noticed that the battery seems to be low on charge, but I tried jump-starting it and didn't work.

Again, I only hear a repetitive clicking noise while I hold the key in START, but no movement from the engine or the starter motor.

Any thoughts? Thanks, guys!

 

Volvo's don't jump fast. You have to let it sit a while. If you have an old battery, replace it, or at least take it to the battery shop and let them check it.

 

But what about the crackling noise? Is it normal? I hear nothing from the starter motor, just electric clicks from somewhere behind the dashboard.

(And yes, I still haven't solved this problem. Don't have a lot of time at the moment and... well, I work from home.)
