HU-650 radio - auxiliary source not showing
I own a 2007 V70 FWD with the HU-650 audio system, which has an audio jack in the center console for auxiliary sound input. The CD unit was not ejecting CD disks, so I bought a replacement HU-650 with a good CD unit for $50. The replacement HU-650's serial number is older than the one in my V70. After I performed the swap in my driveway, all was great until I discovered that rotating the right "source" **** does not include AUX as a source choice.
What is the fix for this? My independent Volvo mechanic has run all options he can find through connecting his diagnostic equipment to the V70, and suspects a one-hour $oftware upload from Volvo may be required. Can anyone advise if there is a workaround to bring the AUX online without a software upload? If not, I'm going to pull the replacement audio unit and swap CD units in their chassises, then reinstall the original audio unit. Finally, AUX is a greater priority than CDs.
As an aside, if this time I don't disconnect the cable from the climate control unit after I've disconnected the negative cable from the battery terminal, will that avoid the SRS airbag warning light issue? And if I get that warning light anyway, is there a driveway method that works to turn it off without diagnostic/computer equipment?
Thanks all.
Fred
