Thumbs up I LOVE this thing!

I bought my S60 about 6 months ago, and I am SO thankful that I did. I seriously LOVE this car! I never thought much about Volvo in the past, but while shopping for a new car my fiance suggested I look into Volvos. She said her dad had one (turned out he had an S60R), and he really really liked it. As soon as I started test driving my T5, I had a silly grin on my face and that same grin shows up each time I get behind the wheel.

So, I now understand and share the passion Volvo owners have for their cars, and am proud to say that I too am a Volvo owner.

I couldn't agree more! Bought my first Volvo a few months ago and wouldn't buy anything else!

Volvo for life!

I borrowed the first Volvo I ever drove from my in laws back in 1985. I now own three of them and have had a total of six. My son has two, my one daughter has one and my mother in law has another one. My other daughter just traded one in on a mini-van. She may be banned from all further family get togethers.

I'm looking for my 3rd S60 as we speak. Unless I find an 07 Saab 9-5. Which having driven the S60T5 and the 9-5 back to back. I have to sadly report the 9-5 as being superior in acceleration and handling, but not in comfort and interior build quality.

Ah, yes! I know that silly little grin all too well! Mine is from my 850. I picked up a few months ago and actually, the grin is now bigger since I upgraded the ecu. I love them so much I just picked up a 240 that hadnt been washed in forever and had a stale smell, but that same silly grin came out on the drive home. Everyone I know was asking why I wasted 500 bucks on a sled, but they have no Idea... So I feel you on that. Enjoy your S60 as you are now part of a small family that seems to smile when driving their Sewedish machines. Happy Motoring!

I have a 240. Every time I push it or hear the body make creaks (like those rally cars) it gives me a great grin. Hopefully going to get my grandmothers s70 glt. *prays*

Volvo FTW!

by the way, I love the s60R

I have yet to drive an S60R, but I hear nothing but good things about them. Come to think of it, I really haven't heard bad about any one model.

Thanks for all the love from my original post! I'm looking forward to using this forum a lot more. It's been a great resource for info so far, and has answered most ...if not all of my questions!

I to have loved my recent purchase, '95 850 R. My wife calls it "My Precious" like in the Lord of the Ring movie. We actually pause and say it just like Gollum did - LOL. I purchased the car about 2 months ago and I am serious when I say I like it more and more each day.

Lets see, I have owned the following Volvos: '87 740 GLE, '78 240 DL, '78 262 C Bertone, '95 960, '97 960 (current), '98 S70 GLT (current - daughter drives), and My Precious '95 Yellow 850 R.

The '87 740 GLE was the one I put the most miles on, it had over 405,000 miles on it when I let it go to a friend. My wife still misses that one. We called it Grace, because it did everything gracefully. The 262 C was called Gramps, because it was older and sometimes acted grumpy. The S70 has been called 3 or 4 different names but has settled in on Little Red.

Well, I must go and see how My Precious is doing. LOL

another thing that I like about this forum is that it's great to hear how everyone has been enjoying their Volvos so much. Every car has their ups and downs. I have had a few cars that I ended up hating once it had a mechanical problem or two. Sounds like almost everyone still loves theirs even after issues come up. It really says a lot about the quality of the vehicles they make and the people who own them. I'm happy to be a part of that.

It also seems like people drive their Volvos FOREVER

When my dad first told me that I'd be getting a Volvo for my first car, I reluctantly agreed as long as it wasn't one of the brick wagons. Then I started doing my own research into Volvos (because I'm the one who found my mom's Honda Pilot and my dad looked through my research and agreed it was a good buy) and I first liked the S60. But of course it was too new so I had to get an S70. On my 15th (yes, not my 16th) birthday, I got a 1998 Volvo S70 GLT. I love it. I've got more horsepower and features than a lot of my friends. I've been working on it with my dad and it's my pride and joy. I don't like anyone driving it other than me. I hate driving my mom's SUV because it's an ungainly tub compared to my S70 which can really haul it. I have a long list of upgrades, so I'm not going to be getting rid of it for a very long time. After I have to bid farewell to my S70, I'll probably switch to either the S60 (2.4T or better) or a C30 (T5 or better). But I'm only 16, so that's all way down the road. And I just love hearing that engine roar and feeling that Volvo grin spread across my face. Not to mention I love it when I leave people in my dust and watch enviromentalists roll their eyes and shake their heads at me (I'm also very political :P).
