Default Info ****/dash display

I just replaced my instrument cluster. The part numbers match and it was taken form a car that had the Info **** on the dash to the right of the steering wheel like mine in the attached photo. After the install my odometer works (that was my original problem- see the thread "instrument cluster problems") but that information the outside temp, average miles per hour, per gallon etc. is not displaying. Is there anything i can do or switch out between the two cluster I have. (mine where info works odometer out and new with odometer reading no info?)

It has the reset ****. It may be that the new cluster needs to adjust to your ecu.

I would switch to each mode and reset it. Hold the button for 5 to 10 seconds in each mode. Then drive to the gas station and fill up the tank. Drive it down as far as you can (between empty and 2), then go to the same gas station and fill it all the way up again. This will allow the computer to reprogram the trip computer. It may not register anything for you for about 1,000 miles.

When I installed the new cluster all the other options, clock, trip & odometer started right up once the battery was connected are you saying that the info display (on the new/used) one would not do that? (my original one will)

I did try holding in the little reset button to see if anything would come on the display but it remained blank/dark. Since the display is just blank/dark you can't really "switch it to each mode and reset" unless you mean to just do it blind.

I have another post you were nice enough to reply to as well explaining I may have to pay $350 or so for a dealer to reprogram/download software to get the driver info option back on but both cars and both clusters had that option on them to begin with so how could it just disappear? and when I put my original cluster back in the option is fine - shows right up - no programing -no trips to the gas station?

Right now my original cluster is back in because I thought I would have to return the new/used one I got. My husband really wants that option to stay with the car while I would rather have the cluster with the closest milage but I don't think we will find one with both. He has removed, installed and taken apart those cluster so many times now (first was a junk yard replacement that did not have the option & way to high milage) that I don't want to ask him to reinstall that one again unless I know for sure it takes time for that option to "reboot itself" if you will or if any cluster I get will need a $350 dealer update.

Thanks for all the help,
Kathy G
