I have a 1996 960 189000 miles. This car has a intermittent missfire. sometimes at idle or any speed even 75 mph. then missfire gos away
and car runs fine. check eng lite comes on code shows missfire cly 5.
volvo dealer changed coil said car ck out ok. I get in drove a block
and missfire, ck eng lite on, code #5 cyl. ANY ONE HAVE SAME PROBLEM
or IDEA....

 

Dumb question but did they replace the spark plug(s) while they were at it?

 

yes new plugs are installed...

 

throw a large bottle of techron in the tank...... do these have cops or wires?

 

960 has coils and yes I have swap coils around to chec if it was a bad coil... No help... still get missfire #5 cyl code...

 

I would put the techron in.......what do you think about a faulty injector? can you get a hold of a scanner?.......do these thing have ignition modules or are they run thru the pcm? never hurts to do a compression test eventually if you can?
