So i currently drive a Mercedes 190E 1993 2.6L and have been on the hunt for a new car, mine is ready to retire.

I went into the Volvo dealership yesterday and was looking at the XC60 and XC90 2012, i would be buying my car pre-owned end of this year beginning of next. Not wanting anything more than 3year old (2010).

If you have any thoughts pro's and con's i would love to hear them, this would help me a great deal in weighing my decision.

Unless you need the room, I would go for the smaller XC60. My wife is considering that option to replace her '04 XC90. She doesn't need all the space since I have a Suburban.

Thanks I agree with you I think the XC60 will suit me best but i'm trying to find out what the mechanical problems volvo had so i can have a heads up with cost.
If you know of any from experience let me know I have checked out alot of reviews but not gettting the answers i want, they talk about the body, the drive etc but not what breaks the most.

The owner of the Volvo service place we go to ( we don't go to the steelership) said he hasn't seen an XC60 yet. I guess they all still under warranty.

 

I'm torn just don't know what to do, i continued digging and Volvo is know to have transmission problems. I'm just getting out of a fantastic relationship with my 18year old mercedes and these past two years have been hard on my pocket and I don't want to do that anymore. But i'll test drive the xc60 and see where it goes from there. Thanks again at least i'm planing on getting a 2012 model in 2013 so i should be under warrantly for a good long while...

I just ordered a 2013 Volvo XC69 T6 R-Design and was quite surprised at how little information I could find on the '13 model being that production has just started or will begin in June '12 -- mere weeks away. I cannot wait to see the limited run R-Design only Rebel Blue, the only all new color for 2013, according to reports. This non metallic Polstar race car inspired shade of blue will be made available on just a few models with the Volvo line, including the C30 R-Design, XC60, but not all from what I researched. If anyone comes across a pic of the XC60 in this "love it" or "hate it" color, please post it or forward it ASAP. My '13 Volvo? I selected Cosmic White. I saw a photo of the C30 in Rebel Blue and it looked amazing, but a bit too adventurous for me to choose sight unseen, especially on a vehicle the size of the XC60 crossover. Other changes pertain to safety, with added features like road sign recognition as apart of the vastly improved navigation system, standard headlight wiper-washers across the entire line-up, automatic headlights with multi settings for this device amongst others.
