When I bought my 2011 S80 it only had one key fob, and keyless entry didn't work - although the car has PCC buttons on the doors they didn't work even with the remote right next to them, and I had to use the remote buttons to lock/unlock the doors and put the fob in the slot to start the car.

I assumed it was a problem with the fob, so bought a second fob from the volvo dealer and had it programmed. But the keyless function doesn't work with the new fob either. The dealer said it must be a problem with the car's keyless system, not the fob - that when they program the fob it automatically knows that the keyless option is installed on my car and enables it on the fob. They said it would be up to a full day's labor just to diagnose the cause. (!)

Questions:

• Could it in fact be a programming error on the dealer's part, i.e. they didn't enable the PCC option on the fob?
• If it's a problem with the car's PCC system, what are some troubleshooting suggestions? I checked the Keyless fuse (A12) but it's fine.
