The emblem for Volvo, seen on the front grill of all its cars, is a circle with an arrow coming out of the upper right corner. This is not only the symbol for Volvo, but also the male gender, the astrological symbol for the planet Mars, and the alchemical symbol for iron. Volvo chose the symbol because it stood for iron (not because their cars were meant for men or aliens!)
As for some more fun trivia about Volvo:
-Volvo began as a Swedish company, but the name is actually Latin and means "I roll."
-In the 1960s, a popular Volvo publicity stunt to show the strength of their seat belts (they were one of the first car manufacturers on the safety bandwagon) was to "hang" a Volvo by its own seat belt in the air!
-High School teacher Irv Gordon, drove his 1966 Volvo P1800S more than 1,330,000 miles! Yes, the same car for all those miles, and he only rebuilt the engine once (at 680,000 miles) just because he thought it was time!

Have you ever wondered how the Volvo symbol of the round circle with the arrow pointing upwards and towards the right came into being? Most people are aware that the name Volvo comes from the Latin and means 'I roll'. The circle with the arrow comes from the symbol for Swedish iron and strength. The diagonal lines which run from left bottom to the top right of the grill was added a few months later in order to hold the badge ON. The badges in the early production were not staying on, so the lines were added to keep it in place
