Default looking for

hi. i am looking into buying my first volvo and i really like the v70. i hear the newer ones are not so consumer friendly as far as working on them goes. True? so i was looking into getting behind the wheel of a 1993-1998 v70. i have searched and found some with about 150k miles on them and for about $5k or less. no too bad. what is some general maintainence that comes with these cars. i am a honda fan myself and have done swaps, upgrades, brake swaps, exhaust, brake booster/cylinder upgrades, timing belts, cam gears, etc. so working on a car is not an issue. i hear that by staying on your fluid changes and timing belt replacements these volvos run forever. along with brakes and regular tune ups of course. can some of you steer me in the right direction as to what maintainence includes and if the model i like is a good choice or not? any info on the newer ones too if possible. i kinda like the 1999-2001 models but hear the quality after 98 is a little downhill.
thanks.

I have owned several Volvo's and I am trying to stay in the years prior to 2000. If you look carefully you can find a low milage car. Like any car, especially honda's, fluid changes, timing belt & related hardware, and mounts will keep you on the road with the Volvo's. If you like to drive and have fun doing so, get a turbo, GLT (Low Pressure Turbo) if you like to keep your speed double diggit, T5 if you like high end torque. No real experience of the newer models. The best source of common issues are the sticky threads. Also, the newer ones are not as easy to DIY without special tools, etc.
