MEtal Adhesive question
I am about to install new axles in my 95' 850 wagon. The directions call for metal adhesive to be added to the splines of the axles connected to the tranny. Is JP Weld an example of what they are referring to or does someone have another option. Also, any recommendations on rust preventer.

RE: MEtal Adhesive question
Welcome to the forum, I hope you find it useful & enjoyable.
No, do not use JB Weld. Try putting a bit of thread locker. I myself used Permatex's red-coloured thread locker. An adhesive is not an absolute necessity, it is called out for because certain times the splines may not match perfectly.
This is what I have used on my splines (and I used only a bit):

If your 850 came with axle nut that has bend tab, I would replace the nut with a new one. Torque it to the specs and then turn an additional angle specified by a service manual.
I hope this helps.
