My girlfriend has a 96 volvo. I know nothing about these cars. Well driving the other day, it shuts off with no warning. She was able to pull over and wait a little more than a minute and it starts right up. Today, it runs for maybe a minute and shuts of wthout warning.it doesnt make any noises or anything... just shuts off. I do not know what model the volvo is.. but i do know it uses coil packs if that help and its non turbo. im going to her house to try and fix it but i need an area to start. we dont have the money to take it to a mechanic and i never learned enough about volvo's when i was in school. please any help as to where to start looking will help. she just needs to get it fixed soon. thank you to anybody who can help me... i know i posted in the wrong place but i dont know the model of the car. so sorry if im clogging the forum.

 

Use the search feature often armed with your info about her car.
Start simple and cheap, then go long. Start with a fuel filter, could be clogged and could probably use one anyway. It's easy to change.

It doesn't sound like a spark problem.
Worn ignition switches can be a problem sometimes.

My guess would be BATTERY. If it's a 6 cylinder, it's a 960.
