I have a 2001 S60 Volvo. On 3 separate occasions I have "run out of gas" even though the gas gauge sez I still have 1/2 tank left. Once I fill the tank back up, all is fine. One mechanic said it has to do with the "saddlebag" design of the tank. Any ideas?

 

Yes it has to do with the tank but there are a couple of reasons that can be going on. The 2 most common reasons is the fuel level sensor arm gets stuck and the second is the line for the fuel sender gets kinked when installing the fuel pump
