I have been thinking about buying a 240 volvo for some time. I live in Alaska, so there are far less volvos running around to choose from than if I was looking in the states. Patients...... I would really like a 240, at this point I am not committed to a wagon or sedan because I don't know what I will be able to find. My question for all of you enthusiasts out there is, what was the most reliable 240 setup? I have read that the 'red block' was bulletproof, that there were reliability problems with the V6, but I haven't heard anything about the turbo cars other than that they are fun to drive. As for transmissions, I would prefer a manual. Are there models or years to be avoided. For example, the first year for electronic overdrive? I don't know a lot and would appreciate any knowledge you may have collected from your own pitfalls.
