tech I need your expert advice. I'm from the Philippines and I have a 98 S40 1800 manual. Whenever I encounter heavy traffic that causes the car to idle for a few minutes, the car "crawls" when I hit the accelerator. After resting for a few minutes with the engine off the car accelerates normally again. What could be the source of my problem? Thanks in advance.

No the light is not on. I've checked and the bulb is good.I've replaced the fuel filter and the plugs but the problem persists. The engine temp gauge reads normal when the problem manifests.Could an "intermittently" defective fuel pump be the problem? However the engine never quits it just crawls when the accelarator is depressed and this only happens after a long period of idling due to heavy traffic.
It's Father's Day in the Philippines so Happy Father's Day to you. I hope I'm not being presumptuous.
