Default Rear Washer Fault 940 estate

Probably due to sudden seasonal overuse my rear washer has stopped working. By coincidence I had a washer reservoir fault which I fixed by washing the gunky filter. The front and headlight wiper jets work perfectly but sadly the rear jet still not firing out fluid, I can hear the motor wine, I can see that no fluid is getting to the jet as inspected the hose connection underneath the tail gate. I can see various rubber hoses coming out of the reservoir but I am not keen on pulling them apart for fun as I have no idea where they go. Cheers

More often than not, the actual squirter fills with junk. It took me ages to get the rear squirter clean on my car. Pop the hose off at any convenient fitting and see if water comes out when you operate the switch. If it does, you have found your problem. If not, work your way forwards.
Generally, if the washer motor pumps, it is a blockage at the actual squirter, but in rare cases it can be a crimped or kinked line.
If you do find the hose blocked, compressed air forced towards the reservoir can clear a blockage, you won't damage the pump as it's not a positive displacement pump.

Regards, Andrew.

Hi Typhon, no luck. When I opened up the rear door and popped off the hose (by the hinge) from the metal hose it was dry, I forced some compressed air into it and tried the pump, again I could here the motor whine but still no fluid. I assume these is no way to access the hose as it must run inside the bodywork all the way into the engine compartment? Is there a diagram of what the various hoses do and where they go? Cheers

Start at the other end. The rear washer motor is on teh side of the pump reservoir under the air box. I forget which one it is.

Regards, Andrew.

Thanks Andrew, I assume I have to remove the air box? Is that a tricky job? Tom

Not too tricky, you do have to remove a few intake hoses and wires from the airbox, but patience and about a half hour should get you to the washer reservoir. There's really nothing to reassemble incorrectly either, it's all fairly obvious.

Regards, Andrew.
