Usually a slipping transmission doesn't have anything to do with a smoking tail pipe. I would get the car to a shop ASAP to check the transmission. They may be able to save it before it is toast.
As for the smoking tail pipe, what color is the smoke? When does it smoke?
Also, always give more information about the car. What year is it? How many miles? How long have you had it? Have you ever had the transmission serviced? Do you tow with it? Is it leaking any fluid?
