Should I buy Roadblock paint protector/other dealer add ons?
Good Morning, I picked up my 08 C70 Wednesday night-love, love it! ( wish it would stop snowing in NH) The dealer gave me 7 days to decide about pre-buying 1st 30 k of recommended service ( for $500) which I don't know if I should or not, and also suggested getting the RoadBlock front end paint protector. What do you folks think of these items, and anything you would recommend purchasing? Many thanks!

"A fool and his money are soon parted". Those 'add ons' are how the dealership make their profit. Now, ask yourself: "did I need paint protecterant on my last auto?". I drive an old c70 (02) and it has yet to develop its first rock chip.

Hello,
Yes I agree with reg as well.
Lately many businesses have been finding ways to get your money, and pre-purchasing of servicing is another fishy one to me. Why would they make you pay the service up front? What if your car gets totaled (well let's hope it wouldn't happen and since it is a Volvo, you would be protected for the most part), stolen, etc... and even if you visit the dealer on schedules, they will say "Oh Mr. xxxx, as a result of the 15Kservice, we have found a suspension component that is damaged and it would be $500 to fix it & have it aligned".....
......
Another modern scam is the store-recommended credit card. At many places they push you getting their credit card.
Being an educated customer has never been so difficult[8D].

No, keep the cash and invest in say.........MGEE on NASDAQ and reap the low price currently and love the high dividends that are taxed at only 15%. As to how well does the old c70 hold up.............well...........it does have it's issues. However you must realize that the 1st iteration of the c70 (mine) was simply a rush job to create a coupe/convertible and was a derivitive of the 850. So..............the running gear is fine but the rest of the auto to include body integrity is certainly questionable. Your c70 however is a purpose built auto and you will not experience the problems that I do. I am keeping my old c70 because I simply adore the body style and the interior. It is one of the oldest cars in my stable and I hope to keep it "Volvo for life".
As to your new c70...............it's too bad that Volvo did not use the 236 H.P. engine in it. It has been rumoured that Volvo will be offering a 6 in the c70 in the near future.

Keep the money for yourself. As to C70, follow Reg's advice as Reg's an expert on C70.
