Default SubFrame Hack

A service station torched subframe connectors to get at bolts to replace control arms. I want to sue. Is this acceptable practice or does it weaken the subframe?

Please provide any support so I can have an informed talk with dealer.

What the hell kind of place is that? Those bolts are easily accessible with a 17mm offset box end wrench. That is not acceptable, though I don't know that it weakens anything. Even if it doesn't weaken anything, you brought your car there with a perfect subframe and it should leave in the same condition.

Was this at a dealer or independent shop? I actually think it would take more time to get the torch and fire it up than it would to just use the right tool.

I just bought this 2003 Volvo used and as part of repairing some safety issues dealer gave to his garage (not a Volvo shop but they do a lot of Volvo work). As of five minutes ago I learned that dealer is refunding the sale - good guy! Have not heard what concessions garage will make.

Wow, I can't believe a place that does a lot of Volvo work would do that. Glad the selling dealer is good enough to refund the purchase though.
