Default Suspension people, please advise!!!!!!!

I got 2001 V70 T5 and love the ride on a smooth road, thats where i got it, now that im driving in NYC, i see that the shocks are shot, as in, really dead. The roads here are like in those post-apocalypse movies, potholes that swallow wheels whole, and joints in the road that feel like they are about to break the car in half. many times the car would jolt so bad that i felt the screws come loose.

what shocks/struts do you recommend?

are they fairly easy to replace that i could do them myself. Im handy with a wrench, or so i think

Also i wanted to lower the car a bit, and make it handle somewhat better, any advice?

I can get Koni shocks and Eibach springs online as a set for this car but dont know if thats whats gonna make my ride better or worse.

I can get something cheaper and the discount auto parts store but not much cheaper. also with Koni it tells me that i might have to do some modifying to make them fit in their place.

Anybody take up to this task? and any advice on shocks and possibly lowering the car?

I recommend the Bilsten Touring Class. I have these on my 850 and I have driven in NYC many times and they are great. Here is a how to right up on how to swap them out.

HOW TO: Replace your front struts.

Thank you very much FCPGroton but I can't afford billsteins, they are too expensive.

I love your store and the fact that you have a wide array of parts that I use on my car.

Koni or Sachs shocks and struts is what I can afford, and with Eibach/Koni combo online on tirerack or few other online vendors I can get the set of those (springs, shocks combined) for $600-$700.

That's what my buget will allow for suspension.

Any other advice guys?
