I just bought a 2019 XC60 T6 Inscription w/ Polestar. The engine performance doesn't really seem like it should be. I'm coming from a Lexus IS350, and I'd expect similar pep, all things considered. However it barely feels different than the T5's I've test driven.
Are there any common problems with either the turbo/super charging that can go un-noticed, and not cause a check-engine notification?
The car is very low mileage (10K), and the deal was too good to pass up, so I bought it knowing that a concern could be addressed under warranty.
A 2019 t6 will have just about the same horsepower or more as your old is350 - but the xc weighs ~500 pounds more and it's power is coming from a 2 liter engine versus the 3.5 in the Lexus. Sure the 2 liter has a turbo and a supercharger - but it you look at the specs the power figures are way up in the rpms - max Hp @6000rpm, max torque @4500.
What's the old saying - there is no replacement for displacement.

Thanks for that explanation. So where it really falls short then is that when you floor it, the response has *a lot* of lag before it pushes to high rpm’s.

That has been my experience with the wifes car. (2020 xc60 T6) She is happy with it, works in the carpool line and anywhere else she needs to go. I preferred the 2015 T6 I had with polestar ( 3.0 Turbo with polestar, 325 hp/ ~354 torque) but those are long gone or too old.
Other choices cost more or similiar - MacanS, Audi Sq5, Glc Mercedes Amg, Genesis 3.5t Gv70, and others if you want more of that push from torque and a 6cyl engine. There are very few Manufactureres (sp) that offer any thing over the 2.0 liter format today.
The P3 (2.0L) and SPA volvos have some serious throttle delay programmed into them when in regular drive mode. It almost makes it annoying to leave from a full stop when you pair it with the transmission roll-resist for hills.

True, but.....
There's SUV Hybrids to consider.
The xc60 hybrid has plenty of "punch it power" if one wants (and who doesn't) that sort of driving experience.
The new '22 XC60 Hybrid put out 455 hp and 525 ft/lbs of torque. AND does away with the supercharger since the electric motor now supplies enough low rpm ummmph to get you moving. Looks like 0-60 in 4.5 and a 13.2 1/4 mile- pretty good for a portly midsize SUV.
Interestingly enough, BMW and Acura have gotten out of the Hybrid SUV business faster than they got in it. The MDX was an appealing car but I understand used ones bring a high price on the used market, BMW come with a 100,000 mile self destruct limit so used models of their hybrid are best left for masochists. The RX Lexus is pretty dull from what I've read.
Don't know much about the Audi Q5 or the Jag versions but I'm guessing they would be enjoyable.
