bought a Volvo v70 2.4 turbo, had friend swap motor, almost done and he bailed on me. I have 2 remaining issues, I have a coolant leak at turbo, do not know internal or on line/connection. can I just bypass the coolant line to the turbo, if not, can I temporary bypass it to run in short time? If it has a internal leak, it couldn't hurt it to bypass it because it is already bad. My last issue is before took motor out, brakes were fine, now you have to press very hard on brake pedal, is that because battery was disconnected for a long time, have to relearn, or vacuum hose hooked up wrong or not at all? where does the power brake booster vacuum hose connects to? been since oct 23, hoping to drive this soon. thanks

 

Go ahead and bypass the turbo coolant lines if you don't mind burning it up and flushing lots of little bits of it through the intake and into your motor. No, there shouldn't be anything for the computer to learn. Something isn't hooked up right with the brakes.

My advice, don't run it until you are sure these two problems are fixed. Or take out a life insurance policy with me as the beneficiary. Your choice.

 

Power brake booster vacuum line is larger size, about 1/4" I.D., which makes it easy to identify. It runs from the brake booster under the air cleaner and it hooks to manifold vacuum, always. Just after the throttle body there will be a place to hook up a vacuum hose of that size. Should be under the tree (not part of the tree I don't think).

If the engine does not produce good vacuum (because it's running poorly), that can be severe enough to notice a problem with the brakes. But let's assume that isn't your problem.
