Default Used car blues

Just purchased a 1999 V70 station wagon. Today the dash lit up like a Christmas tree with the ABS, ETS, SRS, brake indicators lit plus a flashing "up" indicator.

I pulled into AdvanceAuto and the connected their scanner and came up with the following codes:
P0600
P1059
P1019
P1081
P1057
P0722

Can someone please decipher these for me?
Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard! It's not as bad as it looks. Most of your codes are associated with the ABS module which is a known problem on your car. Check out this thread and then send your ABS module to this guy. Do the ABS module first and see which codes remain.

You may also have a faulty ETM, another known problem, in which case you should install the upgraded Xemodex unit.

Let us know what you do and how it works out.

P0600 Serial communication link malfunction
P1059 MIL requested by the throttle unit
P1019 Electronic Throttle Module ?
P1081 Immobilizer communication
P1057 ABS module ?
P0722 Output speed sensor circuit no signal

Took the car to Volvo dealer who scanned the codes for me, (free), whoop! They came up with 3 ABS codes and CM-530D DTC in transmission control module,(TCM) - Faulty siqnal. The overall remedy they suggested replacing the ABS module and the ETM. I don't know what that TCM fix would be unless it's related to the ABS or ETM.

Any ideas?

Hi Richard, welcome to VolvoForums.

Usually when the dash lights up like a Christmas tree it's the alternator going out. I would have that checked first. If the alternator goes and it's not supplying the proper charge to the battery, that will wreek havac on a car that depends on certain voltage to operate electronics.

A lot of people call the ETC and TCM the same thing. Electronic Throttle Control and Throttle Control Module. I'm glad I don't have one.
