which Volvo?
Will be picking up a used car. Need to know which would be the better buy. They want 5k for each and I would aim for 4.5k.
But which is a better car? and why??
1995 940 turbo wagon 113,700mi
1996 850 GLT sedan 104.000mi

both automatics
unknown now(assume they're both acceptable)
car fax avail for both(again, assume all things equal)
none really
not a factor for me
So which one had more bugs, which had more repairs, which is more economical, which will go further(200...300k?)

The One main quiestion here is do you want Front or Rear wheel drive?
The 940 was a little cheaper to repair and keep up with.
But the 850 looks nicer and has more power.

Being in N.E.(snowy) I figure FW drive is a plus/plus.
The extra power is ok, just not necessary plus. 850
cheaper to repair(much?)
easier to keep up with(breaks more often?) 940
Mileage the same?

The 940 will need engine mounts more than the 850 but a little more money than the 850 mounts.
The 940 timing belt is easier to replace. If the 940 one breaks install new one and go.
The 850 if it breaks then it is like almost $3000.00 to repair. A little more labor to replace then the 940 to.
If I had to choose then I would choose the 850.
If it was a 940 Turbo then it would be a different story. (I like the turbo Rear wheel drive)
