Default Volvo and Ford

I've read several posts about how "Volvo stopped making Volvo's when Ford took over."

I'd appreciate it if someone could post exactly which models and when (linked articles or the like) Ford took over manufacturing Volvo cars.

I'm interested because according to the information I've been told that everything except the 40 series are designed and manufactured by Volvo directly. Apparently Volvo is also Ford's only profitable division currently.

Thanks!

Ron

Well just about a month and no responses. I think it's safe then to assume that volvo is still in control of their cars (except the 40 series.)

Personally,I would avoid any car made after 1998 ....since ford took over...
any semblence to a quality product is purely coincidental! They are living off of Volvo's excellent reputation.Considering what one would have to pay for a new "Volvo" it isnt worth it.You are really buying a glorified friggin ford...

I was just thinking is it gonna have all volvo parts in it? or is ford gonna start putting parts in it? I heard somewhere that Volvo was no longer gonna be made in sweden?

i know ive said something along those lines myself, so i hope you guys dont feel im 'calling you out', just an example. i think its a pretty wide rumor, or idea. i would love to see a link or an article about something on this, for some sort of information.

Looking in the engine bay of my wife's V70 last night I spotted parts from Sweden, Germany, France, Spain, and even Poland. And, of course, it's assembled in Belgium. Nothing said Ford.

I just think a lot of people like to blame a decline in Volvo quality on Ford.
