I just bought a '93 850 Sedan and found a 1/8" stamped metal tool in the glovebox with "Volvo" and "6817874" stamped on one side. It is T shaped,4 1/2" across the top and 2 1/4" high. The top middle of the T has a U shaped notch, one end of the T has a flat screwdriver and the other end has a very small torx type bit. Does anyone know this tool's specific use?
(I can email a pic of it, but couldn't figure out how to include it in this post)
Wow, if Tech doesn't know....................???????
On a side note: Using search engines to find this tool, only lead you back to this thread, creating a dead end or a vicious circle.(depending onyour determination or stupidity)
Some mischievous Volvo engineermay betracking its internet trail with amusement.
It's the famous or infamous T shaped combination standard/torx screwdriver/minature pry bar/golf divot repair/T bone steak bone removal tool. I thought everyone had one of these.

Don't forget, that it also looks like heavy-duty underwear.........[8D].
If it has "Snap-on" engraved on the back of it, it is probably the tool I accidentally left in the car before you bought it.
Part no 6817874 Tool A Combination key for convertible top
This is Tool A (6817874) that you use with tool B (8618276) to manually crank the convertible top open and close. I don't know if it is used for anything else. This is from the manual of a 2001 Volvo C70 Covertible.
