So about a month ago I went to start it and nothing. Sounded like it wanted to but no luck. a friend came and we took battery in n had it tested. It came bk good. Put battery back in and it started rt up. Went for a drive sounded like it wanted to stall but didnt smoking out back but made it hm. I had it towed to shop whr they replaced spark plugs and removed a automatic start tht was installed but I didn't hve key fab to. When iI picked it up it was good til bout 2blocks from hm wen it started doing same thing. Wanting to stall but didn't. So I park it call shop which he had told me the coil packs r gonna need replacing I didn't think it was gna hppen on my way home. Well he quotes me $830 to do packs! I don't I've tht kind of $ and I'm keeping sum kind of hope it mite b sumthing simple or even cheaper??? Any suggestions? Plz n ty

Best starting point would be to get the fault codes read with an OBDI II code reader.
It narrows down the problem a lot and saves money replacing bits by guesswork.
Some parts suppliers will read them for you or loan out a reader with a refundable bond.

I believe outlets like 'Autozone' etc over there in the US will read your codes for you or loan out generic fault code readers.
You could purchase a cheaper one to enable you to diagnose problems in the future but the cost is the issue for you. (i.e. ebay)
Complex and Volvo specific codes must be diagnosed at a Volvo dealer but that involves greater costs naturally.
Someone else may be able to recommend other specific outfits in your area that will read your codes free or at a minimal cost.
