Hi all,
Recently my V70 came to a halt and had to be towed home. The engine was still running perfectly but there was no response from the forward or reverse gears. I drained out about 4 ltrs of transmission fluid (very black) and replaced with fresh fluid. The car now drives perfectly for about 5/6 miles and then comes to a halt again. Any thoughts please on how to resolve this problem, or am I looking at a replacement gearbox?

 

You might wanna check the transmission fluid again. If it is all very black again i think you are looking at a change of gearbox. That's your only option.

Will try that, can't understand why the car drives for 5/6 miles and then stops. Would have thought that if the gearbox was completely useless then it wouldn't drive at all.
