Hi all, need to replace the lock actuator in my 2012 S60 T5. I removed the door panel to find a metal shield covering the inside of the door. I removed the bolts around the metal shield but it still won't move. What am I missing? Any help would be a great help. Volvo wants 600.00 to install it.

From what I recall, most of these vehicles have hardware riveted to the door shell. Look around and you'll likely find some rivets that need drilled out.

 

There are no rivets. You sure the panel is metal? It should be a big plastic panel that is removed along with the window lift and lock all attached. It's a little tricky, which is why it isn't cheap to replace. But $600 for just labor is very high.

 

I think that you need to post some pictures. I just reviewed a video of removing the door panel and what is underneath looks like many Volvos I have seen.
