The car I would never buy!
Hello!
I must confess I have just bought the car I would never buy: A Volvo 240. I have always thought they are too clumsy, too heavy and too boring, but now I have one! Now, the car isn't for me, but it is a gift for my wife. For me it would be a lot more tempting to buy her a sexy Alfa Romeo and I would enjoy watching her driving one a lot more, but she would no doubt reveal that it would be just an excuse for me to buy yet another car for myself. Now even if I don't particularly like Volvos, I do love my wife, and I think it is a greater act of love if I give the car that I actually don't like myself. She grew up in the back seat of several 240s, and brags shamelessly of their excelence, so I bought her a car to rivive some of her memory. She likes it a lot, and feel proud when she drives it. That's what matters the most, and even I must admit it is quite practical.
Happy wife - happy life!

My first Volvo was a 240, certainly wasn't my kind of car either but it was a great deal and a gift for my sister in law. It had it's issues, never could find the electrical drain but, the car won me over when I was sitting at a stop light and got hit by one of the new Dodge Sebring. It moved the Volvo about 6 inches forward. I got out and looked at the back of mine, the bumper was moved up about 2 inches and no other damage. Then I looked at the front of hers....or what was left of it.
Her airbags deployed, the front end had caved in to the engine and steam flowing from the busted radiator.
I called my wife and had her rush to the scene...just so I could show her that we did the right thing by her sister....lol
Now? A 2007 S60 T5 That we bought 7 months ago and still haven't worn the glow off of the love for this thing! She safe but white knuckled!
