Default Finally brought the Red Wagon home !

Hello everyone !

Finally joining the club! I've been using the forum quite extensively though to gather information in order to decide on my purchase, and it finally happened two days ago. Not new to Volvo, I had a 91 740 turbo wagon for ten years, and it had been mostly my wife's car. Bought it at 168k miles, and honestly didn't expect much from it, just to help my wife learn how to drive. I thought she'll either hit it or that it will break down. Neither happened, and even though I didn't find it a particularly fun car, I started to slowly like it, I started to fix here and there, took it for a few long trips, even did a rallycross in it. Did most maintenance myself. Ten years later, it looked awesome, new whole body paint, everything mechanically sound, except for the air cond starting to lose its cold blow. By now, we knew we had to have another car, and it had to be a Volvo. And it had to be a wagon. After going thru the forum, it was clear 98 was the best year. Sold the 740 in the morning, could not believe the number of people that wanted it, the new owner actually paid me more than I asked ! Then bought the 98 XC70 later that day. Bright red, dark grey interior, one owner, 129k miles, very well taken care of. I had my eyes on it since November, and somehow I knew the dealer won't sell it as long as they asked over 6 grand. Saw quite a few other ones too, almost got a black V70R, but the inspection showed a lot of work needed, maintenance had been neglected big time, so the Red Baby ended up as the final choice. If the 740 was great but not exciting, this V70 is right there with my BMW and Audi. Everything works in the car except for the fog lights and the top taillights. Will take a look at them as soon as the NW weather permits, I'd like to do it this weekend, but it's the Superbowl. Anyway, glad to be on board and looking forward to chatting with you folks !
