Question Heater turns on and off

Hi there,

I have a 2006 Volvo S60 where the heater has issues. When I start the car and turn on the heat, sometimes the heater turns off and goes to the AC. Also, the heat doesn't always work. Anyone experience this with the same year Volvo?

Sounds like you have issues with your climate control module's computer - have you had the car scanned for any ECC fault codes? Note a generic OBD2 scanner may not read all the Volvo "chassis" codes so you may need to have a pro shop do the scan.

We have not yet taken it to a garage yet but this is good to know before we do go. Thank you!

If it does turn out to be the climate control module, Xemodex has a service where they transfer the programming from your unit to a replacement unit (ie used) that you'd provide. In your era Volvo, most of the computer modules are "paired" to the ECU so you can't just drop in a replacement unit.. :-(

Thank you! As soon as we figure it out we are going to fix it on our own.
