Please Help with info on the Damper motors (heater problem).
I receantly purcheased a 2002 S-60 T5, Don't know if that means Turbo, but it does have it. Anyway, I am having problems with the heater, I took it to a mechanic and he checked it and said everything is fine but 2 of the Damper motors are only putting out 4 amps, would that cause the problem? I also read from some of these posts that there was a reset button somewhere to see if thats all it needs.
Thanks for the help in advance,
PL.

RE: Please Help with info on the Damper motors (heater problem).
Hello Tech, Sorry I did not get to finish the conversation, I was at work and head to leave. The whole story is I just had a used motor put back into the core becouse the first cylinder was scorned and coolent was getting into it and since I was at that stage I changed the Timing belt, Cerpentine belt, new water pump, plugs, air filter. Well anyway now it runs great but the heater was not working before and at the time we did not know if it was becouse the coolint wasen't getting through, we even flushed the radiator and all is well and he checked the heater core and it all looks good. So He checked the damper moter and tested it to see if they were getting the amps they were supposed to, 3 were and 2 were at 4 amps. He has the computer to test the cars computer, but he is not that familure with the ECC system, Do you use the same computer to check that and do you check it from the same place or is there a seperate location?
Thanks Pete L.

Is there a good location to go beside the dealer. I went there for them to check on the heater and they were checking on the codes but this was before I replaced the motor, and they said they were picking up all kinds of codes but needed more time. I paid $350.00 for nothing basicly.

WOW see if there is a Volvo specialist in your area that can read them.
Has anyone messed with the heater core at all?
You can also check and make sure the arms aren't broken.
Remove the lower dash panel on the drivers side. Then look to your right like behind the radio and you should see the motor and the linkage make sure it is all connected.

RE: Please Help with info on the Damper motors (heater problem).
Hello Tech, well over the weekend I went and did what you said about checking the arms in the back to make sure they diden't come off. I physically moved them and the heater came out blasting, so I know the heater core is not bad, but everytime I moved them they allways returned to where they were, so I will be checking with a volvo dealer this month so he can check the codes, now I think its the Ecc becouse when I change it from 80 to about 65 degrees it does'ent change anything and also when I start the car the AC comes on automaticlly with the blower motor blowing, plus I still cant get it to change from the middle. So what I did for now is on the drivers side I pushed it up so the heat would work and unpluged that damper motor so it wouldent bring it back down, so now on the drivers side I have heat and on the passengers side its cold so that will work for now, but I will check the codes shortly.

The only reason i would think its not stripped is becouse when I did move it, ( it wasen't really that easy) the whole gear would move then after a couple of seconds, the motor would move it back to where it was before.
