Default how to sell a car that needs a new transmission

I have a 2003 Volvo XC90 that needs a new transmission. It has about 120,000 miles. Does anyone know whats the best way to sell it for the most money.
Interior and exterior is in fairly good condition. Any advice is welcome!

The car's value to most buyers is going to be the market value minus the cost to repair the car. You may want to provide a professional cost estimate for the new buyer to install a new transmission plus a quote to purchase the parts (used). Do you know exactly what needs to be done to restore the transmission - ie is the bevel gear bad, does it need new solenoids or valve body etc?

That particular car is the sort that mostly what goes wrong with it is that transmission, so it's likely whoever buys it is going to have to spring for an overhaul. In other words you don't just scrounge around and find a "good" transmission. You need to sell it to somebody that can fix it, and finding that person may be a trick. You could call some transmission shops but I doubt they would want to really bother with it. If you put it on craigslist you might include the words "mechanics special". There are a lot of people around that just work on volvos all the time. At least here there are.

It might do well parted out, but it is 15 years old, so I don't know.
