I'm a new member with volvo S60 Question

Hello all!!! We have a volvo S60 and it will not run. My daughter run it out of gas recently and it hasn't been right since. The car will attempt to start up but will not run. Is it just bad gas or something WORSE? Tell me what you think.

Do you hear the pump run when you first turn the key on?
The pump might have burned up once it ran out of gas.
