Default Just bought an 850 GLT

Today I picked up my first Volvo. I have loved Turbo Volvos for a long time, and while searching I found one in the back of the dealers lot that just came in on a trade.

Its a 97 with 195,xxx miles. Very solid car. It needs tires, brakes, and a radio but I got it for $2,000 and tires at the dealers price ($440 for Michelin harmony installed) Basically I have a perfect running Volvo with brand new tires, and brakes for under 2600.

What is the recomending brands for parts? Volvo only, or are there quality aftermarkets available? I noticed parts are pretty cheap online from Volvo Dealers. $90 total for front and rear pad. Front struts at $73/each. These are are cheap!

Congrats on your purhase. Glad you like the car. Before you do any work, check the 850 section and you'll see if your dealing with an OEM pats item or not. There are some parts that are a little better than OEM but not many.

Forgot to mention it also needs a heater core. Small leak...not even enough for liquid, but smells slightly like antifreeze in vents.

Odometer is no working. Any problems with these?

I did the pads, put new tires on, and replaced the bad wheel bearing. Drives like a Brand new car.
